If I wrote a book and that book later got adapted into a movie, you’d better believe I’d be hanging around the set as much as possible and trying to meet the actors. And, if one were offered, I wouldn’t say no to making a cameo appearance. These nine author cameos show that I’d be in good company.

Stephen King makes an appearance as a minister in the 1989 film Pet Sematary.

Lee Child sits quietly at a police desk as Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher and Rosamund Pike’s Helen wait for Reacher’s possession (his toothbrush) as he’s getting out of jail  in Jack Reacher.

Arthur C. Clarke feeds the pigeons in the movie adaptaion, 2010: Odyssey Two.

S. E. Hinton appears in The Outsiders as a nurse.

Stephenie Meyer is a diner patron in the first Twilight movie. She also appears as a wedding guest in a later movie as well.

John Irving has a small role as a referee in The World According to Garp.

Katheryn Stockett shows up at church with a fancy beehive in The Help.

Salman Rushdie Bridget Jones cameo

Salman Rushdie witnesses the most awkward book launch speech in Bridget Jones’s Diary.

Peter Benchley appears to report on the beach about a giant killer shark in Jaws.
